Why me?

I’m writing this in the first person, not to be self-centered or to brag, but because that’s the way I converse with clients.  Since you may be reading this because you actually want to subscribe and invest in REITs, perhaps you’ll want to know a bit about me.

I’m John A. Kilpatrick, Ph.D., MAI, FRICS.  Starting from the left, the “Ph.D.” is in Finance from the University of South Carolina.  I concentrated in real estate, and wrote my dissertation on REITs.  The “MAI” is a designation awarded by the Appraisal Institute.  As of this writing, I’m a state-certified appraiser in all 50 states and DC.   The “FRICS” is awarded by the Brit’s, and stands for “Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.”   I also hold a real estate brokers license and FINRA Series 82 and 63 licenses.

I’m presently Chair and Co-Managing Director of Greenfield Advisors, with principal offices in Seattle and Atlanta.  I’ve been engaged in finance, real estate, teaching, and related stuff (including a stint on Wall Street many years ago) for over 40 years.  I’m the author of 4 books, with two more in the works, and contributing author to several others.  I’ve served on editorial or review boards for several journals, and have published over 100 book chapters, monographs, and articles.   Since 2017, I’ve represented the citizens of Western Washington as a Governor’s appointee to the Washington State Economic Development Finance Authority.  Also, in 2017, my alma mater initiated the “Dr. John A. and Lynnda P. Kilpatrick Graduate Business Fellowship” in our honor.  I’m on the Board of Seattle’s Center for Wooden Boats, and active Rotarian, and an instrument-rated private pilot.

If you want to know more, my assistant will be glad to send you the full bio!
